Sophorolipid biosurfactant SLM

Sophorolipid industrial product, general structure

Sophorolipid (Sophorolipid) is a glycolipid biosurfactant synthesized and metabolized by Candida bacteria using food-grade sugar and vegetable oil as carbon sources and through a fermentation process under certain conditions.SLM is the crude extract of sophorolipid fermentation broth, and contains both lactone-type sophorolipids and acid-type sophorolipids. The product is soluble in water and organic solvents, resistant to high temperature and high salt, and is a low-foaming surfactant. It has excellent surface properties and bacteriostatic properties, non-toxicity, easy biodegradation, and environmental friendliness.

Structural formula of main product:

Sophorolipids are mainly divided into two types according to the characteristics of molecular structure, lactone type and acid type. Among the two types, as many as dozens of specific structures are formed due to differences in carbon chain length, degree of saturation, etc. Its representative structural features are as follows:

Product Physical and chemical indexes:
*Note: each batch product has some slightly difference.

ItemIndex
AppearanceLight yellow to dark brown liquid
Rhamnolipid Content,g/L≥350
pH(10% aqueous solution)6.0-8.0
Surface Tension(S.T.), 1‰,mN/m≤40

Its characteristics are as follows:

1) Excellent surface properties: 1‰ concentration of sophorolipid solution can reduce the surface tension to 26-35mN/m. The CMC concentration of sophorolipids is only about 5 mg/L.
2) Low-foaming products: Sophorolipids are low-foaming surfactants, which can be used in applications requiring low-foaming.
3) Good tolerance: It has been tested by experiments that microbial fermentation biosurfactant can withstand high temperature of 150°C and salt concentration of 100000mg/L, and still maintain stable structure and performance.
4) Safety and environmental protection: Sophorolipid has rapid biodegradability, and the finished product does not contain heavy metals. Its OECD standard oral toxicity test result is LD50>2076.4mg/kg.
5) Antibacterial: Sophorolipid itself has a strong antibacterial effect, which can inhibit most fungi and bacteria.

Precautions:

1) Can not be used in the condition of 10<pH<5.
2) Although the product can withstand high temperature, it is still recommended that the best use temperature is between 10-80 °C.
3) In industrial-grade products, impurities are sometimes precipitated by fermentation by-products, and the physical properties of the precipitates are relatively stable and will not affect the performance.
